Central Kentucky Community Action Transportation System (CKCATS)

Central Kentucky Community Action is pleased to provide safe and reliable public transportation services through its CKCATS fleet. With full services available in Breckinridge, Grayson, Larue, Marion ad Nelson counties and limited services offered in Washington, Edmonson and Hart counties, CKCATS is there to get you where you need to be.

With a focus on physical and nutritional health, CKCATS provides quick and efficient transportation services to a variety of locations, including doctor’s offices, physical therapy, nutrition centers, grocery stores, pharmacies, senior centers and more. CKCATS can also ensure reliable transportation to and from places of employment, job training sites and educational programs. Each of our CKCATS drivers receives extensive training including First Aid, CPR, Passenger Assistance Techniques, Preventative Maintenance and Defensive Driving.

Public Transportation

CKCATS provides door-to-door service in a five-county area, including Breckinridge, Grayson, Larue, Marion and Nelson counties with destinations to any point within Kentucky. Passengers must reserve a ride in advance no later than 3 p.m. of the day before departure.

Monday – Friday: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

$6 each way up to 10 miles. Trips over 10 miles are $1.50 per mile.

*Service hours are limited in some areas and special services are available for groups.

Medical Car
Medicaid Transportation

CKCATS is a Medicaid/Passport Program transportation provider for the GRITS Brokerage in Breckinridge, Grayson, Larue, Marion and Nelson counties and for the Bluegrass Ultra-Service (BUS) Brokerage Services in Washington County. Clients must call the transportation broker in their area at least 3 days in advance of service and request CKCATS as the transportation provider. Benefits can only be used by clients that do not have a working vehicle in the household or can verify in writing that they are not able to use a household vehicle.

Senior Transportation

A variety of transportation services are available to our senior community, including general transit, Senior Center routes, grocery days, medical appointments and more. Passengers age 60 or older may enroll in our Senior Transportation program. Donations in the amount of $1 per trip is suggested. Trips after 2 p.m. will be charged the General Public Transportation fare of $6 one way up to 15 miles within the originating county. Each additional mile is $1.50.

Monday – Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A suggested donation of $1 each way. Donation opportunities are provided on board CKCATS vehicles.

Grocery days are offered to seniors once a week, departing from the Senior Center or pre-arranged pick-up location in the following counties:
Larue and Washington County – Wednesday
Breckinridge and Nelson County – Thursday
Grayson and Marion County – Friday
*There is a limit of 5 bags per person.

Veteran Transportation

Veterans that do not qualify for Senior Transportation may book transportation directly with CKCATS and pay a reduced rate of $1 per mile. Transportation is available in Breckinridge, Edmonson, Grayson, Hart, Larue, Marion and Nelson counties. A Veteran ID or discharge paper is required on first trip.

Monday – Friday: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Free for Veterans enrolled in Senior Transportation up to 15 miles within the originating county. All other trips are $1 per mile.

Intercity Bus Connection

CKCATS is pleased to offer transportation services to and from Greyhound Bus Stations in Louisville, Lexington and Sonora, as well as to the Lexington and Louisville airports. Reservations are required within 48 hours of departure.

Routes are available Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each one-way trip is $10 per adult and $5 per child age 12 and under. Passengers must show airline ticket or bus ticket to CKCATS driver.
